Yes I take photos but a lot of time and work is involved in pushing and punishing the pixels in my images to achieve the look I like.

Often car owners remove all manufacturer logos and model name plates. This makes it tough for uninformed people like me. I think this is very cool whatever it is.
Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 11:59PM | in Caddy, California, Car Show, Cars, HDR, Ruby's Car Show, Whittier I was walking around the Ruby's car show and had 2 people tell me that there was a wicked red, slammed caddy off by itself and not crowded on either side by other cars. This is highly desirable when taking photos with a wide angle lens. By the time I found the car, the sun was going down and the sky was pretty spectacular. When I am faced with a scene like this, where the sky is super bright and I am essentially shooting right into the sun, I am so glad I shoot using the high dynamic range method of photography. Only HDR can pull off a shot like this!

With the weather gettting warmer, the Wednesday night car show is getting busier. Parking was very hard to come by but the selection of cars to shoot was great. This night I forgot my tripod mounting plate so I was limited to using my monopod and just shooting 3 shot HDR's while the light held out. I did boost my ISO as it got darker but that introduces a lot of noise into my images.

Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 6:14AM | in California, HDR, San Francisco, Travel Kathy and I were walking around the financial district in San Francisco when we decided to go into this shopping center in search of lunch. This was taken from the food court on the bottom level. I just set the camera on the table, lens facing skyward and tried to keep my head out of the way. Lots of stores here I never ever shop in.
Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 11:02PM | in Architecture, HDR, Lincoln Memorial, National Mall, Travel, Washington DC The first time I visited the Lincoln Memorial I remember thinking it was a very beautiful place and wonderfully sited. Lincoln's Statue gazes over the heads of visitors and seems to be looking at the wonders of the National Mall spread out before him. These include the long reflecting pool, World War II Memorial, Washington Monument and the United States Capital Building. Although the statue evokes a strong feeling of his resolve to preserve the Union, it also feels somewhat sad. Lincoln is not depicted in glory but instead he seems serene and reflective.

Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 12:11AM | in HDR, Museum, National Air and Space Museum, Space, Travel, Washington DC It's really a miracle that men and women work outside of the international space station, often for hours without the benefit of a tether. The spacesuits they wear are in fact personal spacecraft providing everything they need to survive in the harsh reality that is space. These suits maintain a constant 72 degrees farenheit when the environmental temperature is +250 in the sun and -250 in the shade. Extraordinary engineering.
The US Navy's RA-5C Vigilante aircraft has a giant wing. I was hiding from the sun here for a while so I decided to lay down and take a photo. Some smart ass kids asked If I had fallen and couldn't get back up. I regained my feet rapidly and towered over them not saying a word. They left immediately. Little yuppie larvae.

I had never been fortunate enough to meet the owner but I did drop my business card in the car which features an image of the car itself. I had to work late on Friday so I ended up meeting Kathy and my nephew Santino at the Rubys Car Show a little late. After sneaking up behind me and kicking me in the butt, Kathy told me that the Nomad I liked so much was at the show. After having a quick bite to eat we walked over and met the owner who was very cool. I got a few more shots and this one of them. I'm sure I'll be posting more soon.
